At one time an old, obsolete church structure, Valor purchased the parcel and several adjoining parcels and endeavored to rezone the assembly at a time the District of Columbia was finalizing a downzoning of all properties in the neighborhood meant to prevent further commercial development. Valor worked hand in hand with stakehold- ers to carve out the assembly from the planned downzoning and allow for an increase in zoning but for residential density. The project involved ground-up construction of 84 for-sale residential condominium units. The Maryland achieved record-breaking sales and sales pace at completion.
